Beach Dunes 2 (Back of Dune)
I. Gigapan
This lesson uses Bob Graham Beach on Hutchinson Island as its core. Let's go there and explore the first of 2 Gigapans showing the beach dunes back side, looking toward the sea. The snapshots have narrated slideshows. If necessary, review the lesson on how to navigate a Gigapan. Zoom in, pan around, explore the snapshots with their recorded slideshows.

II. Snapshot Information and Images
Go to the menu bar and click on Lesson 6 to get the drop-down menu entitled "Beach Dune 2 Snapshot Information and Images" for the words and images contained in the Gigapan snapshots.
III. Reference Photos
Go to the menu bar and click on Lesson 6 to get the drop down menu entitled "Beach Dune 2 Reference Photos" for a set of photos to help you identify what you find at the beach.
IV. Field Trip
If you have not gone yet, go explore a beach habitat. Note: If you took a beach field trip for Part 1 (Lesson 5) you are not expected to go a second time for Part 2 (Lesson 6). A list of suggested sites is found on the tab in the menu bar after Lesson 16.
Take pictures of ten plants you identify. A total of ten species photos to cover the beach lessons is adequate. Remember: put the photos in a Word doc and send it. Please do not send photos as separate e-mail attachments.

V. Practice
1. What beach vine has trifoliate leaves (with 3 leaflets), pink flowers and a flat pod?
2. Red Mangrove has a dunce cap bud. Name another tree that has a similar bud. Clue---it has milky sap.
3. Name a thorny vine or shrub with big multicompound leaves. It has yellow flowers yellow and porcupine pods.
4. Name two species with spiny burrs. Ouch!
5. Name the big white flowers with 6 petals.
6. Name the gnarly shrub with clustered leaves, small white flowers, and a white berry which is dark on the inside.
7. Name the shrub with long red tubular flowers whose leaves are trifoliate.
8. Name the shrub with small opposite leaves that has small flowers in a tight head nestled in leaves.
