I. Gigapan
This lesson uses Bob Graham Beach on Hutchinson Island as its core. Explore the Gigapan showing the beach looking in from the sea. The snapshots have narrated slideshows. If necessary, review the lesson on how to navigate a Gigapan. Zoom in, pan around, explore the snapshots with their recorded slideshows. Click: Bob Graham Beach Ocean Side
II. Snapshot Information and Images
Go to the menu bar and click on Lesson 5 to get the drop-down menu entitled "Beach Dune 1 Reference Photos" for the words and images contained in the Gigapan snapshots.
III. Reference Photos
Go to the menu bar and click on Lesson 5 to get a drop-down menu entitled "Beach Dune 1 Reference Photos" for a set of photos to help you identify what you find at the beach.
V. Field Trip
Go explore a beach habitat. A list of suggested sites is found on the tab in the menu bar after Lesson 16.
Take pictures of ten plants you identify. A total of 10 species to cover all three dune lessons is adequate. Remember: put the photos in a Word doc and send it to us. Please do not send photos as separate e-mail attachments. Be sure to find Marsh Elder.

4. Name the three local mangroves. If you had only the leaves, how could you tell them apart?
5. Name a beach herb that is very common, has opposite leaves that are succulent and toothed, and whose flowers are inconspicuous.
6. Name a vine that sprawls across the beach and has notched leaves.
7. How do you distinguish the vine in question 6 from Bay Bean?
8. Name a seashore tree with ocrea.
