George Rogers ([email protected])
I grew up in Wheeling, West Virginia, moved to the Detroit area as a teenager, and attended the University of Michigan, receiving a Ph.D. in Plant Science, followed by a post-doctoral fellowship at Harvard University. A series of academic and administrative jobs have kept me busy, most recently a spell at the University of the West Indies, which I left in 1999 to come to Florida for medical attention to long-standing eye problems. Since that move, in Florida I’ve been a Professor and Department Chair for Horticulture at Palm Beach State College in Palm Beach Gardens. I’ve been teaching Native Plants for about 10 years and love this stuff! My wife Donna teaches at PBSC also. My oldest son Martin is an engineer in Virginia. My middle son Curtis lives and works in Washington DC, and my youngest son Evan is in college in North Carolina.
John Bradford ([email protected])
I grew up in the Washington D.C. area and graduated from the University of Maryland with a degree in English. I worked as a technical writer in the Aerospace industry before moving to construction where I built houses as a job and race cars as a hobby. I spent several years in Grand Cayman before moving to Florida. About 15 years ago, I became interested in plant identification. As I had no background in Botany, the learning curve has been steep. Fortunately, I was able to find a mentor in Dr. Rogers. We have been visiting conservation areas and working on grass and native plant identification for close to 10 years.
